Richard specialises in patent matters related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), microelectronics, microsystems/nanotechnology and physics. His practice includes drafting patent specifications, local and international prosecution, and providing validity and infringement advice. He has extensive experience in a diverse range of technologies, including software and hardware based inventions, networking and Internet technologies, e-commerce, business methods, microelectronics, semiconductor and materials processing, photonics, telecommunications, microsystems / MEMS, nanotechnology, physics, and bioinformatics.
Previously, Richard was a Research Professor at the Microelectronics Research Center at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, a Resident Consultant at Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technologies), a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University, and a Research Associate in the Materials Science & Engineering Department at North Carolina State University.
Richard has directed and performed research in the fields of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), nanotechnology, materials engineering, and semiconductor processing. He has lectured in microelectronics, semiconductor processing, MEMS, and materials science and has over 40 technical publications.
