Maryam's practice focuses on the preparation of patent applications, patent prosecutions including Australian and foreign patent prosecution, patent infringements and patent oppositions, in areas of electrical, computer and biomedical engineering.

While completing her engineering degree, Maryam also completed a Diploma of Innovation Management, which focused on technology commercialisation for biotechnology and medical device companies. Maryam was also an active participant in the 2003 NSW Enterprise Workshop, which covered the process of technology commercialisation and led her to assist in developing the business plan and commercialisation strategy for a Biotechnology start-up company.
