Chris Carter | Partner B.Sc.(Hons.), Ph.D., LL.B., Patent Attorney
Chris provides commercially focused advice relating to obtaining and enforcing intellectual property rights, particularly for products in the fields of information and communication technology, software, business methods, physics, electronics, micro and nanotechnology and mechanical devices.

Chris has particular expertise in patent and design law, and in the preparation of patent specifications, local and international patent prosecution, patent oppositions, patent validity and infringement analysis, and assisting in patent litigation. Chris has undertaken a secondment at a Canadian law firm and has also gained significant U.S experience. Chris joined Davies Collison Cave in 1998.

Chris's Ph.D research involved experimental research on developing a general semiconductor and integrated circuit manufacturing / processing system using plasma based deposition/etching. This included published research and the design and construction of electronic diagnostic devices and developing analysis, modelling and control software.

He regularly writes caselaw updates as NSW correspondent for the IP Forum journal published by the Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
