Abolition of Patent Search Results Requirements - Monday, October 22, 2007
The Australian Government released amendments on 17 October 2007 to effectively remove the requirement to lodge search results at the Australian Patent Office.

The amendments commence operation on 22 October 2007, and, for standard patents, require results that were due before that date to be filed only for applications that had been advertised as accepted before 22 July 2007. For all other applications for standard patents no results now need to be filed.

Similar amendments have been made in relation to the search results that would have been required if an innovation patent is examined for certification.
