DCC Brisbane sponsors the Innovation Series Luncheon: Social Networks, Revolution and Innovation

This was the first of three luncheons for the year and the first time Davies Collison Cave has sponsored the series in Brisbane. The topic for discussion was “Social Networks, Revolution and Innovation ~ Greasing the wheels of political, scientific and economic change”. A panel of international experts tackled the massive potential and limitations of social technologies.

The panel took a look at the role social media is playing in bringing about true democracy, challenging conventional economies and helping the scientific community accelerate research. The guest speakers were: (i) Chris Adams, Founder Orbit Media Group; (ii) Professor Simon Kaplan, executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, QuT and (iii) Dr Cecile Paris, Science Leader, Human Information Interaction, ICT Centre, CSIRO. Alistair Smith presented the “welcome”, whilst the firm was also represented at the lunch by Kathryn Morris, Victor Argaet and Grant Stonier.

The next IVS Brisbane luncheon, will be held on Thursday 14th july, ‘Aligning the Cultures of Innovation to Facilitate Collaboration’, featuring Dr Geoff Garrett AO, Queensland Chief Scientist & Gerald Marion, Director, Consulting Strategy & Operations, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
