DCC attends SynthConf1

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

27 - 29 April 2011

Davies Collison Cave recently had the privilege of sponsoring SynthConf1, a three day conference initiative designed to showcase the synthetic organic chemistry programs of various Australian universities as well as those taking place within industry and government agencies.

The conference was hosted by Fergusson’s Winery in Yarra Glen, about a one hour drive north-east of Melbourne. The combination of wine and chemistry made for a most fruitful three days.

With a relatively small group of about 50 attendees the conference was able to achieve its goals of both exploring diverse chemistry methodology as well as fostering academic and industrial networks. Davies Collison Cave Senior Associate Dr Mat Lucas presented a paper which looked at the potential for research academics to secure alternative income revenue streams through the use of the patent system.

The next conference (SynthConf2) is scheduled for 2013.
