IP Update - June 2011 Issue 12

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Foreword

In this edition of IP Update we provide commentary on several recent Australian Federal Court decisions that are of significance. There is also a detailed outline of the progress of the Gene Patent legislation that is currently before the Senate, that has been provided by Tania Obranovich, who has been heavily involved in discussing implications of the proposed legislation with law makers and the media and in advising the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and AusBiotech on these issues.

We also feature a recent trip by three partners to attend the Japan Fundraising Dinner held in Tasmania. The firm was deeply saddened by the earthquake and tsunami disaster in Japan earlier this year and was pleased to be involved in this fundraising event.

We are pleased to announce that the firm was recently awarded Australian IP Prosecution Firm of the Year by Managing Intellectual Property. We take this opportunity to thank our clients and our wonderful staff for enabling us to achieve this success.

We hope you enjoy the June edition of IP Update which provides editorials on the latest cases and developments to keep you abreast of IP news in Australia.
